Lest
We Forget
Elko
County War Memorials
Elko,
Elko County, Nevada
Some
gave all. On Veterans Day, 2001, I decided to go down to the
courthouse and read the names of those soldiers from Elko County who gave
their all
for our freedom. When I was reading the names on the monuments the
simple thought occurred to me - Who were these people? Who were
their parents, where were they born, were they sons or fathers, where and how
did they die, where were they buried, what were their hopes and dreams - their
fears? What was the color of their eyes? It is the purpose of this page to share with you some of what we
have learned thus far. Although, hundreds of hours have now been
spent on this project by a number of people (listed below), we have far to
go. If you know of any information we can add to these pages please
contact me, Dan Turner, the Northeastern
Nevada Museum or VFW Post 2350.
Any mistakes or omissions are unquestionably unintentional. If you
discover any - let me know - I will correct them. These soldiers gave
their last breath of life to preserve the freedom we have in this
county. It is our hope to spend a few of our breaths to remember them
and their sacrifices.
