Pet Cemetery, Elko, Elko County, Nevada

About a mile north of Walmart, on the west side of the Mountain City Highway is a little talked about - little known pet cemetery. It is a precious remnant of the old Elko. In the '70s it was a few miles out of town. Now town has grown around its boundaries. I didn't see any recent graves here - the oldest one marked was 1959 - the youngest 1987. It may even be illegal to use it now that Elko has grown around it - don't know. But I do know this location is one of Elko's hallowed spots. Filled with both great love and immeasurable sorrow. A place you laid-to-rest your very best friend - out on the north edge of town, overlooking the Ruby Mountains. There is that feeling here ... touched for a moment - then it slips away. I believe Tuffy's marker says it best, "She Loved Us We Loved Her". If you wish to add more ... just let me know.
