 A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE PLEASE

Statistics fascinate me.  Not the numbers themselves.  But what they really mean.  You have to be careful interpreting statistics.  You've got to read the fine print and assumptions carefully.  Especially, if the author is trying to make THEIR own point.  Often what is left out is more important than what is included.  For that matter, the TV 'news' is my best example.  If you only watch the TV news, you will get a very stilted picture of the world.  It puts absolutely nothing in perspective and primarily focuses on issues that are meant to entertain us, so we will buy the sponsors products.  I am not referring to Walter Cronkite of old, but the new news.  The recent, Monica/Bill affair is a perfect national example.  The 'shovel-affair' is a good local example.   Recently, I ran across a web-site called A - Z of Government Statistics.  If you like, you could vacation in this site.  It beats the 'info-mercials' of late-night TV.  After spending a few evening hours browsing this site, consisting of links to other sites.  I thought I would try to create a 'Perspective Page' to kind of put the world and the US in perspective - if that is possible.  This is a 'growth page'.  I will add to it as time permits
