Come away with me
to that bosky dell
where dappled deer and sullen shaggy bear
wander juxtaposed without a care
Come away with me
from this cold dank room
where frustrations choke the seething soul
as old man time he takes his toll
Please take my hand
and hold it tight
speak to me of yesteryear
of your parents whom you loved so dear.
We can talk with fondness of those who've gone
laugh of friends we knew as kids
And those that married for good or bad
And those whose lives turned out so sad
We can speak of many things
the smell of grass when it was mowed
the feel of a gentle rain as it came down
how a summer breeze could ease a frown
The sounds of silence late at night
The morning frenzy when late for work
The distant chatter of the kids next door
of barking dogs that are no more
You say you sense the time is near
I have loved you that is true
But your gift to me goes far beyond
I will be with you when you are gone.
