| The Nevada Youth Training Center
(NYTC) is in Elko, Nevada. It is a State run training center
for boys 12 or so to 18 years of age who the courts have determined
could use some extra training in life skills and schooling. It is
a good program. Last night, when I was checking on the
newer arrivals, as they were sleeping, I noticed that one of the older boys
had a photo by his pillow. This morning, after things settled
down, I asked about the picture. What follows is his story. |

Last Night
Last night I slept - With your picture by my head. Laying gently in our bed.
I miss you so. More than words can say. All night I held you close - Even though you're far away.
I dreamt of our baby Safe within your womb. I held you both in my arms. We will be a family soon.
Please don't give up on me. I'm trying the best I can. I'll make you and our child proud Of this humbled man.
I'll gladly give up the boy in me - Change into your man. Together we will conquer all. The future is now ours to plan.
