Elko, Elko County, Nevada
Kittridge Canyon is the first canyon east of Elko. It is pretty much a suburb of Elko. What is interesting is a circa 1976 article given to me by the Northeastern Nevada Museum, which was provided to them by Mr. Bob Pierce that outlines the Elko water system history (full article provided below). This article states: "It is interesting to note that the first water system for Elko was owned and operated by a Chinese named Hi Loy who with his foreman, Le Hi, constructed a wooden flume from Kittridge Canyon to a small reservoir above the China Ranch (presently the Elko City Park)." More of the water history follows. But the quest of this trip was to find any evidence of the old wooden flume. No luck this day. But here are a few photos of what we did find.
