More Stories & Poems

This is kind of sappy, cutesy poem.  But writing it passed an hour or

so one long sleepless night.

The Greeting Card

Selecting the right card

Can be incredibly hard

Some are too mushy

Sickening sweet

Some are expensive

Others too cheap

Should it be serious

Or can it be funny

Does it need a slot

To add in some money

Should it have a butterfly

Or a daisy or a rose

Or how about a pug

With a cute little nose

Should it be religious

Sending affection or love

Should it have a cross

Or a little white dove

A well chosen card

Is very easy to tell

It has the personalities of both

The giver and receiver as well

Then there’s the envelope

Getting the right size

Checking this now

Is especially wise

After all this is done

Having read cards by the dozen

And agonizing if the price

Is too much for a cousin

You make your selection

After many minutes of thought

Knowing now full well

It’s the one that you sought

For hopefully it will be cherished

Read over and over

Set on a special shelf

Or made into a book cover

Lastly, don’t forget

A short little note

To show how much you care

For the one that you wrote
