The Best I Can Be

I've seen a lot of life.

At least my share, or more.

And sometimes I'm worried

To see what else is in-store.

But I move on ahead

One step at a time.

Finding my own way.

Sometimes in rhyme.

I try to face the challenges

That life brings each day.

And do the best job I can,

With the cards dealt my way.

I ain't been perfect.

Probably never will.

But that don't mean I'll stop trying.

Though it seems - I'm always head'n uphill.

Don't know how much time

God has given to me.

But no matter - till it's my turn to go -

I'll be the best I can be.

Though life is not fair

And it ain't always good -

I'm determined to live my life

As I know that I should.
