A Special Thank You!
There is a person that I hardly know. Actually, I’m a
little embarrassed to say that
it’s so. When she announced her retirement. I felt really
-
quite sad. But more than that
– I was even a
bit
mad. Let’s stop here
and clarify just a
little. I was not irritated
at her - you see. But the anger was
aimed, fully, squarely, directly,
undeniably, totally at me. For she has done so
much that is good. And relatively
speaking, in so little time. But you see, I
never have said thank you – I have not been as
kind. For she has done, in truth, quite a
lot. For in our and our
children’s schools excellence remains
consistently taught. Admittedly, her
tenure has not been so dull. Many a controversy, she has been embroiled. A situation to be
expected – for those, who for
progress, have toiled. The pressures of
the position must be incredibly
rough. For teachers,
students, principals, politicians, staff, and parents like us
– can be incredibly tough. As a Superintendent
of Schools, she was, is and shall be known
for being honest and straight. For finding
solutions to problems. Not for being one
who only wishes - to placate. But before Marcia
Bandera is gone from the scene. And I’m once again a little too late . I wish to say thank
you. I think you are great. -
