Angel In Your Garden
Dan Turner 2-27-00 |
I was working in my garden, just the other day. When a little neighbor girl, ran up and blocked my way.
“Do you know you have an angel in your garden, over by the trees?”
With a gentle laugh, reserved for special times, I asked, “Does she have wings and a long white dress that shimmers in the breeze?”
“Yes!”, she said, “So you have seen her, too!” “I’m so glad, because when I told my dad, he said there were no such things – they were only make believe.”

 |
She then skipped off, happy and complete. When she passed from view, I turned and looked again toward the closest tree. And there - I swear - was an angel smiling back at me. I walked over, expecting her to disappear. But as I got closer, her features became more clear.
I stood there for a moment not knowing what to do. Finally I said, “Does this mean it is time for me to go?” If you have never heard an angel laugh, your life is not complete. For the words glow with warmth, they are pure and kind and sweet.
“No actually, I come here often, to watch your steady pace.” “You know, flowers are among God’s greatest gifts, and this is such a restful place.”
“Then why haven’t I seen you, before this afternoon?”
“I suppose you’ve chosen not to – as most people do.” “Well”, she said, “it’s time for me to go.” “I just stopped to rest in your garden – I enjoy the roses so.” She assured me she would stop again, and bring her friends by, too. But as she left, this simple verse echoed in my mind:
“Seek and ye shall find.”

Garden Angel
Dan Turner 4/11/00
|
 |
An angel turned to stone
with dandelions about her feet
marked by the passage of time
faded by the winters cold
Her head tilted to one side
an understanding smile remains
the tip of one wing now missing
shaped by the masters hand
As I am now much older
spending more time in reflection
this angel remains nearly unchanged
from the memory of my youth
|
|
But her smile still calls to me
and calms my aching heart
though my questions have changed
her answers remain the same
Trust in the wisdom of our father
be patient and calm and serene
accept the bad stoically as it happens
bask in the warm days of summer
And know above all that
angels are but the messengers
sent from God above
to comfort, guide and protect
But not to save your soul
for all the angels in God’s dominion
cannot get you through heavens gate
the gift of God offered to you
Must be embraced by you alone.

An angel on a rose
sitting quite content
waving to a butterfly
all are heaven sent |

Heart
& Soul

There comes a time, early in life, that your mind takes the lead over your heart and soul – to make the decisions of the day. Lucky are they that one day return to the child-like quality of doing what’s best - decided by the heart and soul rather than the mind. |

This
is neither about angels nor really a poem, let's just consider it a
memo from upper management.
My
Dream
I
dreamed that I spoke with the Lord last night. I told him all of my
problems, and told him how weary that I had become. Then I
asked him how much longer till I could come back home. With a
calm and reassuring voice he said, "It won't be long -
soon." I said, "Not to be disrespectful, but what 'soon' may mean to you, may be a lifetime to me." I
had
never heard Jesus laugh - more of a warm chuckle, then this reply. "It's true my friend. I love you
so." You have no idea how good these words made me feel,
if even in a dream. To be loved by our Lord, in heaven, and know
that I will see him soon - whenever that may be.
